Olympiad , Round 3: Malaysia draw Egypt 2-2

Malaysia men team put a stellar performance in round 3 last night by drawing against  a strong team - Egypt  2-2. Our two IMs on board 1 and 2 ( Mok Tze Meng and Lim Yee Weng) beat GM Bassem Amin (2643) and GM Ahmed Adly (2602) respectively. Lim Zhuo Ren lost on board 4 to IM Ibrahim ( 2429).

The last game to finish is on board 3 where our  young talent - Yeoh Li Tian play a stubborn defense  to hold a draw against IM Mohamed Ezat (2453) so that we can  get the needed half points for a clear victory. Unfortunately ,  Li Tian misplay a drawn rook and pawn endgame and had to resign.

With this result, Malaysia amend the 2008 result in Dresden Olympiad Germany where the same team  Egypt - with almost the same line up,  trash us 4-0!
