Our no.1 player - IM Mashafizul has decide not to play in the current ASEAN Open Chess Championship held in Singapore from 26
th-30
th December 2010. Mas said that he is not fully recover after being
effected with dengue last month. Although he played in the Penang International Open recently , he mentioned that it was kind of test an feel lucky to get 6th place in that event because he still doesn't feel 100% fit.
Without Mas, Malaysia is represent by NM Edward Lee (2144). In the first round today, he suffered a lost against Filipino IM -Steven Kim Yap (2395) and Edward will meets another Filipino - FM Pascua Haridas (2362) in the 2nd round today.
In the women section, WFM Alia Anin Azwa Bakri (1953) is carrying the Malaysian flag. In round 1, Alia
(photo right) upset Vietnamese WIM - Hoang Thi Nhu Y (2223) and in round 2 today, she will meets another Vietnamese -WGM Nguyen Thi Thanh An (2300).
