Yeoh Li Tian (left) on his way to play his 14th move - Re1 against IM Prathamesh Mokal
Theory recommend 13... Qa4 14. Bg5 h6 15. Bxe7
Nxe7 16. Rab1. Taking the c-pawn with13... Qxc3
is quite risky because white will have a strong initiative for e.g after 14.
Be3 14. Re1 Rd8 15. Bg5 Bd7 16. Qh4
white has a strong pressure on black`s king side 16... Qc5 17. Rab1 Rab8 18. Rb5 18.
Bf6!? also a good option. 18... Qa3 19. Rb3
White can try for more with
19. Bxe7 Qxe7 20. Ng5 h5 21. Qf4 19... Qc5 20. Rb5 Qa3 21. Rb3 Qc5 Li Tian pr
efer to force a repition against his much higher rated opponents. Black`s
problem is his queen can`t leave his bishop on e7 unguard for e.g
21... Qa5?? will simply lose a piece 22. Bxe7
Nxe7 23. Qxe7. If
21... Bxg5
?? and black will get mated or lose his queen 22. Nxg5 Qe7 (22... h5 23. Rxa3
) 23. Qxh7+ Kf8 24. Qh8# checkmate . So both players agreed to split the points
1/2-1/2
