FM Mok Tze Meng (photo right) proved that why he is still the top Malaysian players after winning the Grand Final of the Pencarian Jaguh Catur Negeri Terengganu which concluded today. Mok bagged 8 points from 9 round, half points more then 2nd place - IM Mashafizul who finish with 7.5 points. Although his victory may be questionable if Malaysian no.1 - IM Mashafizul haven't lost his 2nd round game by forfeit , and the absentees of other strong Malaysian players who compete in the KL Open 08, Mok did at least draw with Mas and beat other strong players such as NM Kamal Abdullah, Abdullah Che Hassan, Ian Udani and Kamaluddin Yusof .Mok also proved that his participation in Dresden Olympiad is well deserved although few critics (including yours truly) regarding his performance in Dresden and questions over his ability to shine in the international level compare with the upcoming youngsters. Mok proved that he is still the player to beat in local tournament ! Congratulation !
Before i forget, i would like to thanks Muhammad Arshad - Secretary of Terengganu Chess Association who provide me with results and news and also his helper who sent me the games.
Their efforts to organize such big tournament in Terengganu should be praised and followed by others. Congratulation !
