Hoh Hjin Li- Amira Shakmina

The 2010 Women Malaysian Women Master organised by Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF)  start today at the DATCC, KL.

Below is one of the interesting game from day 1-

Hoh Hjin Li - Amira Shakmina
Game 1, Malaysian Women Master, 26.2.2010

Analysed by Hairulov and Fritz

1. e4 c5 2. Nc3 d6 3. f4 Nc6 4. Nf3 Nf6 5. Bb5 g6 6. d3 Bg7 7. O-O O-O 8. Bxc6 bxc6 9. Qe1  Bg4  Theory recommend several continuation for e.g 9...Rb8 , 9... c4 or 9... Ne8  10. Qh4 Bxf3?! I don`t like this move. Black  should wait white to play h3 first  and then only take the knight on f3. The reason is now white`s rook can join the attack on h- file because the h3 square is free.11. Rxf3

11...Qd7 12. f5 Nh5 13. g4 Bf6 14. Qh3 Bd4+ 15. Kh1 Nf6 16. Qh4 Kh8 17. Rh3 Rg8 18. Ne2 Be5 19. Bg5  19. Ng3! is stronger for e.g 19...Bxg3 20. hxg3 h5 21. g5 Nh7 22. g4  19... Rg7 20. Ng3  Bxb2
Black can set a nice trap with 20... Rag8!? 21. Bh6? g5 22. Bxg7+ Rxg7 23. Qh6 Nxg4 24. Qh5 Nf2+  21. Rf1 Be5 Black should have play 21... Rag8! threatening gxf5 and then the white`s bishop with Rxg5 22. Bh6 g5 23. Bxg7+ Rxg7 24. Qh6 Be5 and white`s queen is offside 22. Bh6 Rgg8 23. fxg6?! White miss 23. g5! Ne8 and the stunning 24. Bf8!! and black can resign 23... fxg6 24. g5 Bxg3 if  24... Ng4 White have nice combination 25. Rf7 Bg7 26. Nf5! Nf2+ 27. Qxf2 gxf5 28. g6!  25. hxg3 Ng4 26. Bf8? white missed the strong 26. Rf7! 26... h5??  blunder. Black can parry the mating threat on h7 by playing   26... e5!  The black`s queen know cover h7 and black can still survive. Now black will be mate in three.....

  27.Qxh5+!! gxh5 28. Rxh5+ Nh6 29. Rxh6#   checkmate 1-0

The Malaysian Women Master 2010 start tommorow!

The 2010 Malaysian Women Master will start tomorrow (26th February 2010) till 2nd March 2010 at the Dato' Arthur Tan Chess Centre (DATCC), Wilayah Kompleks, Kuala Lumpur . After the success of their male counterpart tournament, Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) has decide to organize this event dedicated for women players only. I hope no male player will take Najib Wahab “advice” as mentioned in his  article (read para 3 line 12-13) just to take part in this tournament.

The list of the players selected to play in this tournament has been well debated recently although the selection criteria has been announced about two months earlier. The organizer has released the final list of the players here.  I  hope the tournaments will produced many interesting games/moment as what the Malaysian Master has produced.

May the best women win !
