Putrajaya Chess Fever welcome special guest - IM Mashafizul Helmi !

 I can confirm that the gathering is held at Putrajaya despite Mohd Ezmi Mahmood (standing) attemps  to prove that it is held at Kelantan?!

 1st October 2011 - After months break , Putrajaya Chess Fever is held today at  Restoren Darussalam,  Presint 9, Putrajaya . Today we had a special guest - Malaysian no. 1 - IM Mashafizul Helmi. Former national player - Azhari Mohd Nor also turn up !

* Ezmi Mahmood was a former Kelantan's youth footballer and he is also good in chess.

I conduct an interview with Mas during the gathering. Among others, we talk about his earlier chess  career,  method of training, his previously two years GM project, chess books, Chess engines (Fritz, Rybka etc.), chess culture in western and Malaysia, his late father's special wish and his recent decision to quite his job - chemical engineer  at PETRONAS and turn... full time chess professional!

Putrajaya Chess Fever 7-2010

After nearly a month break because of the 2010 Anand-Topalov World Championship Final, Putrajaya chess gathering will continue on 18th May, 2010 (Tuesday). The gathering will  start at 6.30 PM at Medan Selera Presint 9, Putrajaya ( in front Kompleks Kejiranan Precint 9) . This informal gathering is the 7th weekly gathering being held this year. It is open  for all chess lovers especially from Putrajaya chess community.

Chess lovers from other places are also invited  to joint and "test power" against local community. Kindly bring chess set and chess clock....and don`t forget to buy some drink/food....just to make sure the owner of the food stall happy :)

As usual, a social chess gathering will be held on 20th April, 2010 (Tuesday) starting from 6 PM at Medan Selera Presint 9, Putrajaya ( in front Kompleks Kejiranan Precint 9) . This informal gathering is the sixth weekly gathering being held this year. It is open  for all chess lovers especially from Putrajaya chess community.

Chess lovers from other places are also invited  to joint and "test power" against local community. Kindly bring chess set and chess clock....and don`t forget to buy some drink/food....just to make sure the food stall owner  happy :)

Due to last minute unforeseen reason,  a weekly Putrajaya chess gathering last week (6th April 2010) had to be cancel. However this Tuesday, the Putrajaya Chess Fever  will be held on - 13th April 2010  (Tuesday) starting from 6 PM at Medan Selera Presint 9, Putrajaya ( in front Kompleks Kejiranan Precint 9) . This informal gathering is the fifth weekly gathering being held this year.

It is open for all chess lovers especially from Putrajaya chess community. However, chess lovers from other places are also invited to joint and "test power" against local community. Among players who have join this session before was former National players- Mohd Saprin Sabri and Ahmad Maliki Mohamad.  Regular tournaments players such as Aziz Shukor and Shamsol Bahrin have also joint this session before and  Putrajaya chess players who has been in this session is  Mohd Rizal Jusah, Mohd Firdaus Ismail, Muhsin Hassan, Martha James and of course - yours truly.

30th March 2010 -  The 4th Putrajaya Chess Fever was held successfully last night and among the  " special guest"  is Aziz Shukor and Shamsol Bahrin. Other player who turn up is former national player- Mohd Saprin Sabri. Saprin has become a regular guest in this weekly gathering.  He always love to share his vast experience and knowledge to us, especially for new comers like  Martha James. Another regular Putrajaya player who turn up last night is  Muhsin Hassan.

Next week this gathering will be held at same time and same place so see you'll  there!

UKMICC beat Putrajaya 3-2 !

23rd Match 2010 - The visiting team – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia International Chess Club (UKMICC) beat Putrajaya 3-2 in a friendly team match held in  at the Kompleks Kejiranan Presint 9, Putrajaya. The match start at 8.30pm. The format of this match is 5 player per team  with 45 minutes time control.

With mutual agreement from both team, Putrajaya who have some players who couldn’t turn up for the match was allowed to field import players – Mohd Saprin Sabri and Abdul Aziz Shukor.

Putrajaya vs UKM International Chess Club Friendly Match !

Putrajaya Chess team will meet Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) International Chess Club in a friendly match on 23rd Match 2010. This friendly match is part of the UKMICC preparation for the MASUM 2010 which will be held on May 2010 at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). For Putrajaya chess community, this is part of  the Putrajaya Chess Fever activity for this year. The details of the tournament is as follow :-


Date - 23rd March 2010 (Tuesday)
Time - 8.00 PM - 10.00  PM
Venue -   Aras 2, Bilik Snooker,
                Kompleks Kejiranan Presint 9,
                PUTRAJAYA

The format is a team match with 5 players. The time control is 1 hour for each player. The venue is Kompleks Kejiranan Presint 9 Putrajaya which is located in front of the famous Presint 9 Food Court. 


Putrajaya team will be lead by their new champion - Rizal Ahmad Kamal while Abdul Haq Muhammad will lead UKMICC. 

Putrajaya Chess Fever 2-2010

Mohd Saprin Sabri  was the special guest in the second Putrajaya Chess Fever held yesterday. The former national player show that he is in his class of his own by defeating Firdaus and yours truly game after game.

Next week, a friendly match between Putrajaya Chess Association and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia  International Chess Club (UKMICC)  is plan to be held during the Putrajaya Chess Fever 3-2010. This friendly match is part of the UKMICC preparation for the MASUM 2010 which will be held on May 2010 at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

The tentative date and time for the friendly match  is as follow-
