Saprin and Kamaluddin both want to play 1.e4 at the same time ! ...Come on guys ?!
The gathering start at about 10pm and finish as late as...you can stand. I call it a day at around 3 am! . When i first arrive at the place last night, it looks like the restaurant is full and same goes to the parking lot. However, going into midnight... there are less and less peoples and cars. I'm the first person to reach the place followed by Saprin a few minutes later.
We start to play and i won the first game ! In the middle of game 2, Kamaluddin Yusof (photo right - a photo of him in the past and present) arrive and i start to lose piece ( a queen actually for two piece ?! against Saprin ) . There's possibility that my concentration was disturb... fearing that Kamaluddin will deliver a punch or two on my face after writing a not so nice article about him in the past. However to my relief, it seems that Kamaluddin is a very sporting guy....just like majority of my blog followers!
We proceed to play uncounted blitz games against each other with time control - 3 minutes+5 seconds increment and the traditional 5 minutes with no increment. In the end it was clear that Kamaluddin and Saprin was the dominant players but... Sam and I did "teach them a few lessons" along the way :)
After the games we have a nice chat about chess related things. Among the topics is the clash between the upcoming KL Open and Terengganu Open at the end of this year, my plan to blog live at the next 2010 Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk , Russia and the current jokes by someone that Mr.Ibrahim Abu Bakar - Malaysia team captain in the current Olympiad in Dresden should be allowed to play the 4th board !
Knowing Mr.Ibrahim and some of our Malaysia team in Dresden, i believe that they would surely laugh about it too ...sometimes we need to be a little bit "loose" and laugh at stupid things....just to release tension from our full list of problems - high cost leaving, economics ressesion, office problems, family problems, war....etc.etc....but of course it should be an "acceptable jokes"...by "normal standard". I have my own quote about chess..... "chess is too serious to be ...too serious" ...if you all got what i mean.
Below are one of the interesting game. The time control is 3 minutes + 5 second increment.
Kamaluddin Yusof - Mohd Saprin Sabri [D46]
Blitz:3'+5", Bangi Night Fever, 21.11.2008
1.c4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.e3 e6 5.d4 Nbd7 6.Bd3 Bd6 7.0–0 e5 8.Be2 e4 9.Nd2 a6 10.a4 Nf8 11.Qb3 Ng6 12.g3 Bc7 13.cxd5 cxd5 14.f3 exf3 15.Bxf3 Qe7 16.Re1 0–0 17.Nxd5 Nxd5 18.Bxd5 Rd8 19.Nf1 Ba5 20.Bd2 Bxd2 21.Nxd2 h5 22.Rf1 Rf8 23.Qd3 Kh8 24.Rae1 h4 25.Nf3 Bh3 26.Rf2 Rad8 27.Bb3 Qb4 28.Qc3 Qd6
29.Nxh4?! The correct move is 29.gxh4 Bg4 30.Ng5 f6 (30...Nxh4 31.Nxf7+) 31.Nf7+ 29...Nxh4 30.gxh4 Qg6+ Now black has a perpectual in hand 31.Kh1 Qe4+ 32.Kg1 Rd6 33.h5 Rf6 ...but as normally happens in blitz games...Kamaluddin blunder with 34.Ree2?? The correct move is 34.Qd2 Qg4+ 35.Kh1 Qe4+ 36.Kg1 = draw by perpectual 34...Qg4+ 35.Kh1
35...Qxe2!! A sting in the tail - as the late Bobby Fischer once said 0–1 36.Rxe2 Rf1#
