World University Chess Championship 2012 - ( R1,2 and 3) report

Below is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round results of Malaysian players in the World University Chess Championship 2012, Portugal.

Round 1

All Malaysian players lost to their higher seeded opponents. In the open section, Asian Amateur Champion - Fadzil Ahmad Nayal lost to Polish GM - Pawel Czarnota (2535), Syazwan lost to Russian GM - Nikita Matinian (2438) and in the women section WCM Nur Shazwani Zulkifli  lost  to first seed Chinese WGM - Zhongyi Tan ( 2456).

Round 2

Both our players in the men section won. Fadzil beat unrated Angola player - David Adao and Syazwan win against unrated Lebanese player - Rislan Bilal but unfortunately for Syazwani, she still failed to register a point after losing to Polish WGM - Beata Kadziolka (2311).

Round 3

Fadzil draw an interesting game against Swiss FM - Marco Gahler (2302) while Syazwan lost to host player - Andre Viela (2183).  Syazwani won her first point against host player - Marta Martins (1621) in the women section.
