2009 Malaysian Interstate Chess Championship : Round 1 Results

The Malaysia Interstate Chess Championship is taking place from December 25th to 27th in Sibu, Sarawak. This is a two-in-one tournament comprising an individual event and a team event.Each state is invited to send four players for the individual event; their accumulated scores will be counted for the team results. Apart from these four official entries per state, other players – except those who played in the last Chess Olympiad in Dresden – are also eligible to take part in the individual tournament.

25th December - Majority of seeded players score full points in the first round except two player - Lim Zhou Ren and Lim Khian Hwa. Lim Zhou Ren (KL) lost to unrated but strong and experience player Abdul Haq (Kelantan). Lim Khian Hwa (Sarawak) lost to Kedah player Amri Hajar. Amri is a strong an experience player and i'm not surprise when he beat Khian Hwa. I still remember when Amri won the Malay Open (Novis section) in 90's. In Khian Hwa case, he must be tired to organised and at the same time play in this tournament.
