IM Martin Zumsande (2403) vs. IM Mashafizul (2391)
BDO , Round 2, 16.8.09
1. e4 c5 2. c3 d5 In the past, Mas prefer 2...Nf6 3. exd5 Qxd5 4. d4 Nf6 5. Nf3 e6 6. Be3 cxd4 7. cxd4 Nc6 8. a3 Be7 9. Nc3 Qd6 10. Bd3 O-O 11. O-O b6 12. Qe2 Bb7 13. Rad1 Rfd8 14. Bb1 Rac8 15. Rfe1 Qb8 16. Bg5 Nd5 17. Qe4 g6 18. Qh4 Qc7?
19. Ba2? White missed the strong 19.Nxd5! and after 19...Rxd5 20.Be4 Rdd8 and 21.Bxc6 winning the bishop on e7 19... Nxc3 20.bxc3 Bxa3 This looks like something wrong with Mas opening play. He has to give some material to slow white's attack. White has many strong follow-up for e.g Bxe7-Ng5 and Bxe6 or Rxe6 threat !21.Bxd8 My silicon friend - Fritz suggest the extravaganza 19.Rxe6!! and after 19...fxe6 20.Bxe6+ Kf8 21. Re1! and white threaten the decisive 22.Bh6+ 21...Nxd8 22.d5 20.Ng5! is probably stronger. After 20...h5 then 21.d5 ! 22...exd5? the best way to defend the position is probably with 20...Be7 21.Qh3 Qxc3 22.dxe6 f5 and pray for the best! 23.Re8+ Bf8? Mas is losing 23...Kg7 is lesser evil. After 23...Bf8 white have the strong 24.Qh6 and after 24...Ne6 25.Ng5! Mas could have resign 24.Qh6 Ne6 25.Ng5 as expected. After 25...f5 white have 26.Nxe6 Rxe8 27.Nxc7 Bxh6 and after 28.Nxe8 black is a rook down so Mas resign 1-0
