21st August 2009 - Well, actually the first round will start tomorrow but officially the tournament start today with the players meetings. Defending champion Li Chao (photo right) from China will defend his title this year and if he succeed to do that he will be the first player who won Dato' Arthur Tan Malaysian Open (DATMO) three times in a row!According to the organiser, there will be many title players ( GMs,IMs,FMs etc.) from country like China, India, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Piliphines, Uzbekistan , Japan, New Zealand, Bangladesh, and Singapore will try to stop Li Cao domination this year.
FM Lim Yee Weng will lead the host country challenge this year. Yee Weng who has a great tournament last year and this year will be a good opportunity for him to reach the 2400 rating marks and confirm his IM title which has been long overdue. This year Malaysian "former" no. 1 - Mashafizul will not participated because of his GM quest in Europe. Other Malaysian who participated in this year edition is IM Jimmy Liew, FM Mok Tze Meng, Ismail Ahmad and many others . My friend from Italy - Richard Kimbin will also took part.
A friend from Japan - Baba Masahiro sent me an email and hope that i can follow his compatriot - Kojima,Sano,Inoue,and Noguchi progress . I'll try my best dude!
