Mashafizul will continue his quest for the GM norm in the “ part 2” Philipines Open - the first Subic Open International chess championships which will gets under way tomorrow (Saturday, May 17) at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center.
It will be a nine-round tournament which offers a combined cash prizes of US$70,000 and organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philipines (NCFP) and supported by the Department of Tourism and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
This time the top seed will be GMs Yuriy Kuzubov (right) of Ukraine who is ranked No. 14 in Ukraine with an ELO of 2603.
