IM Mashafizul finish at 10th in The 1st Subic International Open 2008!

At last the official site of the first Subic Bay International Open Chess Championship 2008 produce the official final ranking. The interesting thing is our local hero IM Mashafizul is on 10 th placing! Congratulation Mas.

As my previous posting, I roughly calculated that Mas (photo right) will finish between 6th – 20th placing because there is 20 players with the same point ( 5 ½ ). However I don’t actually expect that Mas will place as high as 10th place because his initial seeding is 26th. Although Mas is unlikely to achieve GM norm in this tournament I think he should get a few rating point. He also will be more confident in his future tournament especially after beating GM like Rogelio Antonio and drawing with several strong IM’s.
