A funny incident happen during the recent World Youth Championship held atAntalya (Turkey). A 14-year-old player from Belgium-Nils Nijs (photo left) had drawn his game in the penultimate round after a threefold repetition. At 23.00 hours at night, he was summoned by the official to continue the game-in midnight because he had wrongly claimed his draw in that afternoon in his game against Mai Lloyd from Canada. They were asked to played a new game the same midnight . The result-Nijs lost.
It's interesthing to note that Mr "dunderhead" Zurab Azmaiparashvili (right)was among the officials (Zurab Azmaiparashvili, Florencio Campomanes and Georgios Makropoulos) that decide the desicions! GM Nigel Short would be surely laugh about it!
