FIDE Arbiters Seminar

Below is information i received from Najib Wahab:-

Good news for aspiring chess officials and those who are keen to learn more about becoming chess arbiters and officials.

It is now confirmed that MCF will be organizing a FIDE Arbiter Seminar from 29th June until 4th July in Kuala Lumpur. This will be the first time MCF organizes an accredited FIDE Arbiter seminar in Malaysia since FIDE passed a ruling where potential Arbiters are required to attend and pass an Arbiter Seminar before they can be recognized as a FIDE Arbiter, and FIDE International Arbiter. The last time MCF organized such a seminar was in 1994 during the Asian Cities Chess Championship held in Kuala Lumpur.

Participants who completed the course and pass the exam will have completed one of the more basic but crucial requirements towards earning the FIDE Arbiter title.

The facilitator for the FIDE Arbiter Seminar will be Mr. Ignatius Leong, one of FIDE most experienced International Arbiter and who is also the current FIDE Secretary General. Mr. Leong will be assisted by Mr. Bunawan, an International Arbiter from Indonesia.

The fees for the course is USD150 but those who registered via MCF state affiliates shall be given a 20% discount with a maximum of two persons per affiliate. Seats are limited and closing date for registration is 15th June 2011. Course material and handouts will be given to participants throughout the course duration.
