Penang Open is on!

There's a strong international chess tournament going on in our north region. The tournament  - Penang Heritage City International  Open is being held since last Wednesday and now after 6 round, Philipinnes IM - Oliver Dimakiling is leading with 5.5 points out of 6.

The best performance for local player come from our current National Champion - NM Tan Khai Boon who have 4.5 points from 6 rounds. Refer chess-results.com for the  latest result.

Below is one of the game from the tournament. Nik Ahmad Farouqi almost create an upset in round 2 against much higher rated player - Edgar Reggie Olay (FIDE 2345) but in the end, he had to settle for a draw - thanks to his opponent who return the favor by missing several winning moves.
