Malaysia bag 6 golds in APSSO !

I've just received  sms from the MCF's Honorary Secretay- Gregory Lau that the Malaysian Junior Chess Team selected from MSSM 2010 by the Minisitry of Education Malaysia have gave an outstanding performance by hauling a total of 6 golds + 2 bronzens in the recently concluded ASEAN Primary School Sports Olympiad (APSSO) 2010 held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 4-10 November 2010.

APSSO, is an annual sports competition event at elementary level which was created to improve and develop sports at an early age to promote an intelligent and strong young generation that foster friendship, sportsmanship and respect with fellow athletes. It is participated by 10 countries - Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei and Philippines. Included also in the competition are sports event football, table tennis, badminton and athletics.

Our chess medals come from Yeoh li Tian and WFM Nur Najiha Azman Hisham in   Individual Classical, Rapid and blitz events. The other three golds from Team Classical, Rapid and blitz. According to Greg, officialy we won 4 golds + 2 bronzes  because blitz events medas are not taken into consideration as Championships medals tally.

The team consist of our chess wonderboy - Yeoh Li Tian (6 golds - 3 individual golds + 3 teams golds), WFM Nur Najiha Azman Hisham ( 2 bronzes), Mohd Faizal bin Roslan (3 team golds) and Harleiff bin Haniff (3 team golds).

Well done juniors!
