Mas- Enrique Round 1

Below is the first round game between Malaysian no. 1 - IM Mashafizul against last year Commonwealth Open Champion - IM Enrique Paciencia in the 2010 Malaysia-Singapore Challange ( Dato Tan Kim Yeoh Trophy).

 37. Qxd4 Bd5+  37... exd4? 38. Rxe7 Bxc4 39. dxc4 Qa5 40. Rxb7+ Kc8 41. Re8+  38. Kg1 Nxc2 38... exd4? 39. Rxe7 39. Qc3 Nxe1 40. Rxe1 Re8 41. Nxe5  41. Na5 winning the b7 pawn is also another way to win 41... Ka8 42. d4 Qd6 43. Qb4 Re7 44. Nxa6 Qe6 45. Ra1 ?!  45. Nc5! is an easier way to win but actually both players was in time trouble. 45...bxa6 46. Rxa6+ Ra7 47. Qf8+ Kb7 48. Rxa7+ Kxa7 49. Qxg7+ White is three pawnsup and is clearly winning although not so easy especially in time trouble 49...Kb6 50. Qf6 Qh3 black threaten mate on g2 51. Qf2 Qh5 52. Qd2 Qf5 53. Nc4+ Kc7
54. Qa5+ Kb8  54... Kd7 is lesser evil  55. Qd8+ Ka7 55... Qc8 also lost  56. Qxc8+ Kxc8 57.
Nb6+ Kc7 58. Nxd5+ cxd5  and the endgame is totally lost  56. Qc7+   56...Ka8 57. Nb6#   1-0 and black resign because after 56...Ka657. Qb6# checkmate.

* In round 2, Enrique got his revenge by beating Mashafizul.
