2009 Malaysian Interstate Chess Championship : Round 3 Results !

The Malaysia Interstate Chess Championship is taking place from December 25th to 27th in Sibu, Sarawak. This is a two-in-one tournament comprising an individual event and a team event.Each state is invited to send four players for the individual event; their accumulated scores will be counted for the team results. Apart from these four official entries per state, other players – except those who played in the last Chess Olympiad in Dresden – are also eligible to take part in the individual tournament.

26th December 2009 - In round 3 , the dark horse - Amri Hajar (Kedah) was stop by Caviaga player - Abdullah Che Hassan (Selangor) . Abdullah's Caviaga team mate - Nik Ahmad Farouqi produced an upset by beating former National player - Leong Mun Wan (Johor). Penang players - Loo Swee Leong and Liong Ing Kiat lost to relatively lower rated but strong players - Ismail Ahmad ( KL) and Tun Sri Lanang (Selangor) respectively. David Chin (Sabah) manage to held former Olympiad player - Fairin Zakaria (Selangor) to a draw.
