Three Malaysian youngster - Mohd Izz Saifuddin ( Under 18), Sumant Subramaniam ( Under 16) and Shreyas Subramaniam ( Under 12) participated in the 2009 Asian Youth Chess Championship held in New Delhi, India from 2-9 August 2009.
After three rounds, the results is not so encouraging for the boys. Izz 1/2 point, Sumant 0 point and Sherayas 1 point.

Izz lost to Iran player - Amirreza Pourramezanali (FIDE 2257)
Sumant lost to Indian player - FM Santosh Gujrathi Vidit (FIDE 2447)
Shreyas lost to Kazahkstan player - Ayan Akhmetov (FIDE 1956)
Round 4
Izz will meet Turmeknistan player - Yusup Atabayev ( FIDE 2204)
Sumant meet Afganistan player - Abdul Satar
Shreyas meet Iranian - Amirmasoud (FIDE 1879)
