29 July 2009 - IM Mashafizul end his campaign in the Zone 3.3, World Chess Championship, Vietnam with a win against IM Nguyen Thanh Son (FIDE 2444) . There's eror in the earlier pairing because Mas was scheduled to play against GM Dao Tien Hai but in the end, he was being paired against Nguyen Thanh Son. Mas finish in 6th place with 6 points. This is quite and achievement considering that he was seeded no.18th. in the starting list.
