Thanks to Andrew Ooi brilliant coverage of the 2009 National Closed , we can enjoy an up to date information/ results of the 2009 National Closed which is being held from 30th May till 3rd June 2009 at the DATCC, Kuala Lumpur. After 8 round, it seems that the National Master title will once again win by a school boy . Last year , (NM) Edward Lee 15 , from Johor won the tourney . In this year edition , Lim Zhou Ren 17 ( photo right) from KL is leading the tourney with 7 points after 8 rounds. If i'm not mistaken, the last National Closed won by a "not so young" player is 11 years ago ( 1993) . The tourney is won by Yeoh Chin Seng . Since then, the annual tourney was all won by a player below 20 years old.
Looking at the results after round 8, it seems that 6 players is the contender for this year title. The players is Lim Zhou Ren, NM Edward Lee, Evan Timothy Capel, Abel Yap, Abdullah Che Hassan and Mohd Saprin Sabri .
