29 May 2009 - IM Mashafizul draw against Philippines untitled player - Jan Emmanuel Garcia ( FIDE 2292) in the 7th round of the Subic International Open. In the 8th round , he is being paired against another host player - NM Efren Bagamasbad (FIDE 2282). Efren is quite a strong player. Till round 7, he has produced two upset which is on round 1 and 7 where he beat GM Villamayor Beunaventura (FIDE 2474) and Indonesian IM - Irwanto Sadikin (FIDE 2447) respectively.
