Mashafizul is now battling at the Doeberl Cup 2009 where so far he is in great form with 5 points out of 7 rounds. With 2514 rating performance after 7 round, he is in right track to achieve his first GM norm.After Doeberl Cup which will end on 13th April 2009, Mas will then fly to Sydney to compete in another international chess open - the Sydney International Open 2009 from 15th -19th April 2009 !

That is an IM performance in case you don't know and really nice if he can get an IM norm to encourage him further as to having made progress.
After all, it has been more than 18 months and must be approaching 20 international tournaments now as a fully sponsored professional with a coach
