IM Mashafizul beat IM Deep Sengupta, Round 9, Sydney International Open 2009

IM Mashafizul end his campaign in the 2009 Sydney International Open with a win against 2009 Doeberl Cup winner's - IM Deep Sengupta from India. Mas ends this tournament in 8th place with 6.5 points, however his rating performance - 2434 is not good for a GM norm.

Unfortunately it is not even an IM norm. But it is good that he is fighting and won the last three games although the last round is always the "money" round so players are either trying to win to get prize or if the situation is such, making a draw to be sure of prize.

I never knew a Mas who is not fighting every round. Half a point short of the winner is not a poor result by any measure. Unfortunately, Peter Long's standards are so much higher
