Next Friday, Neo Manhattan Chess Centre (NMCC) will organised the NMCC Friday Blitz Thematic 2-09 : Chigorin Defense . This will be the second edition of this thematic tourney. The 1st edition saw Abdullah Che Hassan won the tournament which features the Sicilian Dragon as the theme.The Chigorin Defense is a chess opening named for 19th century Russian grandmaster Mikhail Chigorin.
A thematic chess tournament is a tournament with every game is played with a certain opening variant. And for next Friday, the Chigorin Defense (below) have been selected as the starting position. ( with white to play) .You will find the board set up for this variant at the start of the game. So all white player will start the game on move 3! And black player will start after white's 3rd move.
