Round 3 Corus 2009

GM Wesley So (2627) were paired against FM Anish Giri ( 2469)for the 3rd round. This should be an easy for Wesley but he must be cautious because the tournament has saw many upset for the first two round for e.g Ivanchuk lost to Jan Smeets and Sasikiran lost to Hou Yifan.

FM Anish Giri 15 (photo right) , has an unusual background. Anish's father, Sanjay Giri, is of Nepalese origin. His mother is a Russian. Anish was born in Russia. They recently moved to The Netherlands.
