Kuala Langat Open 2008

Ex World Police Chess Champion – Ismail Ahmad (photo right) won the Kuala Langat Chess Open 2008 held at the Commercial Hall , AIM POINT Plaza ( TESCO ), Banting, Selangor on 12 October 2008 . The tournament was organised by - Majlis Daerah Kuala langat . 135 participant participate in this tournament.

The champion - Ismail Ahmad finished the 7 round tournaments with 6.5 points to tie with Pinoy- Ian Udani. However Ismail was declared as the winner based on better tiebreak. Ismail earn RM 500 for winning the tournament . [ Every chess player is waiting for Ismail invitation for his Hari Raya Open House ....- kidding - Hairulov :) ]

According to Fadli Zakaria ( aka stonemaster) , a dramatic finale occur in the last round when the eventual winner - Ismail Ahmad manage to escape with a perpectual check in a difficult position against Ian Udani to tie the score and won the tournament based on tie break.
