GM Drazen Sermek Champion MCF GM Tournament 2008

Round 10 (FINAL) Report

Crotian GM Drazen Sermek (photo right) emerged as the sole winner of the 2008 Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) GM Tournament which end yesterday at the Cititel XPress Hotel, Kuala Lumpur . He was unbeaten and finish with 7 points. The second place goes to GM Ziaur Rahman the top seed ( FIDE 2560) from Bangladesh with 6.5 points followed by Uzbek GM - Saidali Yuldachev ( 2520) with 6 points. Malaysian - IM Mashafizul Helmi ( FIDE 2386) finish on 4th place with 5.5 points. He missed the GM norm by a single point. Chinese 19 years old girls WIM Zhang Xiaowen have something to cheer when she finish with 4 points and get a WGM norm. Mynamar - FM Myo Zaw Min (FIDE 2486) finish last with 1 points. According to the Arbiter - Maung Maung Lwin - Myo is not so active playing chess anymore and his now more involve as an arbiter in chess tournaments in Myanmar.
