Ivanchuk vs Anand : Round 6, Bilbao Master 2008!

I'm watching live on ICC the 6th round game between good friend and rival - Vishy Anand versus Vasily Ivanchuk in the 6th round of Bilbao Master.

I'll be updated the game with my patzer comment powered by Rybka 2.2 ! However there's chance that i will fall asleep before the game ended :)

Vassily Ivanchuk - Vishy Anand
Bilbao Master 2008, (Round 6), 08.09.2008

The game is delayed because there's an air conditioned problems in the aquarium ( the glass playing hall) ?! However the good news is Super GM Peter Svidler is co-commenting the game live with MIG Greengrad on ICC !

1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3 dxc4 5.a4 Bf5 6.e3 e6 7.Bxc4 Bb4 8.0–0 Nbd7 9.Qb3 a5 10.Na2 Be7 11.Nh4 11.Qxb7 Rb8 12.Qa6 (12.Qxc6?? The pawn is poison. 12...Rb6 The queen is trap!) 12...Ra8 13.Qb7 Rb8 14.Qa6 Ra8 Meaning that Anand is willing to draw the game.11...Be4 12.Nc3 Bd5

Peter Svidler tell an interesting story that he and Anand always play a guess game about what opening will Ivanchuk would play in tournaments because the guys have a very broad knowledge on everything - including opening theory !

13.Bxd5 [13.Nxd5 Nxd5 a) 13...exd5 14.Bd3; b) 13...cxd5 14.Bd3 Bb4 (14...0–0 15.Bd2) ; 14.Nf3 Nb4 15.e4] 13...Nxd5 14.Nxd5 [14.Nf3 Qb6] 14...cxd5 15.Nf3 Qb6 16.Qxb6 Nxb6 17.b3 f6 18.Bd2 Kd7 19.Rfc1 Rhc8 20.Ne1 Rxc1 21.Rxc1 looks like the game will ended in a draw 21... Ba3 22.Rc2 Nc8 23.Nd3 Ne7 24.Nc5+ Bxc5 25.Rxc5

Now the game has transpose into and endgame - Rook + Bishop vs Rook + knight . Theory said that in open position, the side with the bishop has the advantage. 25...b6 26.Rc2 h5

27.f3 Nc6 28.Kf2 Rb8 29.Ke2 b5 30.axb5 Rxb5 31.Ra2 Rxb3 32.Bxa5 Nxa5 1/2-1/2

A draw....time to sleep....zzzzzz
