Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) organised a double round robin GM Tournament shortly after DATMO 2008 end yesterday. The tournament will take place at the Hotel Cititel Express photo left ( formerly known as Hotel Stanford) which are located on the fringes of the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur City Centre, along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. This street was affectionately known as Batu Road and now - Chow Kit Road. Actually the tournament was planned to start today ( 25th August) but were rescheduled to tommorow because one of the participant - FM Myo Zaw Min from Myanmar couldn't make it for the first round due to flight problems.
The are six players competing:-

2. GM Saidali Yuldashev ( 2520) Uzbekistan
3. GM Drazen Sermek ( 2509) Crotia
4. FM Myo Zaw Min ( 2486) Myanmar
5. IM Mashafizul Helmi ( 2386) Malaysia
6. WIM Zhang Xiaowen ( 2382) China

1st round : 3 pm 26th August 2008 ( Tuesday)
2d round : 3 pm 27th August 2008 ( Wednesday)
3rd round : 3 pm 28th August 2008 ( Thursday)
4th round : 3 pm 29th August 2008 ( Friday)
5th round : 3 pm 30th August 2008 ( Saturday)
6th round : 3 pm 31st August 2008 (Sunday)
7th round : 3 pm 1st September 2008 ( Monday)
8th round : 3 pm 2 Septemebr 2008 ( Tuesday)
9th round : 3 pm 3rd September 2008 ( Wednesday)
10th round : 3pm 4th September 2008 ( Thursday)
The time control is 40 moves in 2 hours + 60 minutes to finish.

I attend the tournament today and was quite puzzle when i saw GM Ian Rogers playing against WIM Zhang Xiaowen with our local hero IM Mashafizul watching at the side. Is Ian Rogers making a comeback !? What a headline it would be so i immediately asked Mas about the 1st round score and Mas told me that actually the tournament were rescheduled and the 1st round will start tomorrow because one of the invited player - FM Myo Zaw Win couldn't make it for the 1st round today due to flight problems .
