Mashafizul Knocked Down GM Negi Parimarjan!

Yes! IM Mashafizul have done it. He beat India new hot shot and prodigy GM Negi Parimarjan (2514) in the 9th round of the Parsvnath Commonwealth Chess Championship 2007 held at India. His now collected 6 1/2 points from 9 round and have one more round to play.

IM Mas Hafizulhelmi (photo below) playing black choose the Sicilian Najdorf and Parimarjan reply with the 6.Bg5 variation. Many knows that former World Championship finalist GM Nigel Short was Parimarjan regular coach - a seen in photo where Pari were trained by Short at his house in Greece. Just imagine what can achieve if Mas Hafizul have the same coach!?

Parimarjan Negi (b. 9 February 1993) is a 14-year-old chess prodigy from India. In July 2005, he became the youngest International Master ever when he earned his third and final IM norm at the Sort International open chess tournament in Sort, Spain. On 1 July 2006, at the age of 13 years, 4 months, and 22 days, he became the second youngest International Grandmaster ever, second only to Sergey Karjakin, when he earned his third and final GM norm at the Chelyabinsk Region Superfinal Championship at Satka in Russia.
On 6 January 2006 he received his second GM norm at the Hastings Chess Congress where he scored 6/10, a performance of 2568. Negi finished 16th when he was 12 years 10 months and 29 days old.
Negi became the youngest Grandmaster in India and second youngest in the history of the game on 1 July, 2006 by drawing with Russian Grandmaster Ruslan Sherbakov and finished with six points from nine rounds of the Chelyabinsk Region Superfinal chess tournament in Satka.
Negi replaces Pentala Harikrishna as the country's youngest ever GM. Hari reached the landmark at the age of 15 years and 99 days in August 2001. Hari had improved upon Viswanathan Anand's 14-year-old record of 18 years and 19 days.
