Only Sumant Subramanian manage to made an upset in Round 3 by beating higher rated player WIM Anjela Khegay (photo right) former Uzbekistan but now representing Singapore. Our "former" no.1 player IM Mas failed to make an upset in Round 3 when he lost to the second seed - GM Gawain Jones from England in a Sicilian Dragon.
In round 9 Mas will meet an uphill task when he is paired against India prodigy and new hot shot GM Parimarjan Negi. Meanwhile Sumant will meet Swapnil S Dhopade (2261) and Lim Kian Hwa paired against Shah Manush (1911) both from India. Wish them all the best.
